PS30
For my 30th birthday, Becca was encouraging me to finally get the PS3 that I've been coveting for some time. Perhaps she was trying to make me feel young again. I've been saving up Best Buy gifts cards for a while, which helped me justify the purchase. While I was picking up the last 250GB PS3 at the Best Buy on Broadway (sounds like a geeky musical), Becca was hanging out on the ports of Brooklyn, dodging containers of dead Eastern European prostitutes (sorry, we've been catching up on The Wire lately), and retrieving a surprise birthday gift that FedEx failed to deliver. It's this kind of dedication (and the fact that she stood in line at the bank with a jar full of pocket change to contribute $54 towards the PS3 fund) that reminds me why she's the girl for me. So, I came home to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Grand Theft Auto IV, and a PS3 Blu-ray remote.
So far I've only been playing Call of Duty and it's amaaaaazing.
I'll post some more b-day deets after we get some photos uploaded.
Nice clip
Makes me want to get action games for mine. I'm debating if it should make the cut and come with me to Houston or not.
Get got...
Oh yeah, and how good is The Wire. It's my favorite TV drama. I've been selling it to Adam but he hasn't moved it up in his queue yet. I'm currently watching Homocide: Life on the Streets, which is based on the book by David Simon who created The Wire. Watched a bonus material interview with him and I feel like I should be drinking coffee instead of beer when watching his shows. One smart dude.
OMAR
Yes! He's gonna get got. I have an obsession with Omar and a HUGE crush on Lt. Daniels. If anything should happen to those two, I'd be v. upset. We're in the middle of season 3 right now.
The Cheese Stands Alone
I, too, recently grabbed a schmancy new PS3. And I loves. It connects with my Sony Bravia so nicely that I didn't even need to buy a blu-ray remote (the TV one automatically controls both). I strongly recommend "Batman: Arkum Asylum". I think I plowed through the game with 100% completion in under 2 weeks. It was certainly the most enjoyable comic-book game I've ever played.
And on the topic of "The Wire", all I can say is check these out: http://www.karmaloop.com/products.aspx?ProductID=82632&VendorCode=MLK Omar Indeed!
The Dark Knight - KAPOW!
I noticed on your PSN profile that you had boucoup Arkum experience. I downloaded the demo a couple of nights ago. The gameplay is pretty fresh to death. I like the variety of attacks. I didn't get very far, but it definitely seems like an enjoyable game.
Watch Instantly
Grant, did you get the Netflix disc for the PS3 to watch instantly? I know you were feeling the Roku last time we hung out. We tried the Netflix disc and it works nicely. In fact, just as good as the Roku.
Freebies
One thing I like about the PS3 is that PSN is free, unlike Xbox Live, and there are so many free demos to download. If you just like to dabble in gaming, you don't really even have to ever buy a game.
Does this mean the Houston thing is official? When's the big move? Make sure you plan a business trip in Raleigh for the week of our wedding, so you can expense the whole thing. Even the strippers. Especially the strippers.
Hi-Ho, the derry-o, The cheese stands alone
Apparently expensing strip club visits is against company policy. Not always the case though from what I understand, if you can believe it. Being a salesman must be way harder work than being in Finance or IT.
Yes, H-town is a done deal, I move Feb 1 but will split my time for the next 9 months or so and will be making visits back to Raleigh now & again. I'll definitely try to line up a trip to coincide with the big day.
I will have to give that PS3 streaming a chance if / when I have it in Houston. Currently, I just use my iMac which isn't so bad. I did get the Roku for my family as a xmas gift. And if you had to press me Bec's I would say Mr Little is my favorite character too, although for a good chuckle you can't mess with McNulty. A couple prequels in case you have not had the pleasure:

THE WIRE
Ok, PS3 is probably cool, still not as good as the Wire. You guys have no idea what you are in for in seasons 3, 4 and 5. Just get ready for the crushing weight of the world!!!!
And love it. All I have are Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Madden 10, and Assassin's Creed. All are amazing games and since Assassin's Creed 2 is out, I got the first one on the cheap (17 bucks). We need to get online with Call of Duty sometime. The airport is a lot of fun on multiplayer (and less insane) then it's mission counterpart.
