All Quiet on the Western Front?

by Merlot last modified 2007-08-10 19:13

With Lindsey in Deep, Deep Rehab (she's w/ the Mormon's in Utah) LA has been very quiet... so quiet even a 4.5 Earthquake couldn't shake things up Wednesday Night.

All Quiet on the Western Front?

I miss you pumpkin, let me know if you want me to break you out.

So, Wednesday night I passed out around 10, yes I said 10.   I'm old now.  At about 1:00 AM  I shot up out of a deep rem sleep and realized my whole bedroom was moving in kinda of wavy, shaking pattern.

I promptly said aloud, to myself (w/ Lindsey in Rehab I've been sleeping alone), "Oh, this is what one of these feels like."  Then I promptly passed out...

When I woke, I didn't know if I had dreamed the quake or if it had really happened.  The wine glass that was sitting on my coffee table from the night before hadn't moved so I quickly assumed I was out of my mind.  It wasn't until I picked up my buddy Chuck for work that he confirmed we were hit by a 4.5 quake.

Some Side notes from La La Land on this Sleepy Friday:

1.) I keep trying to get that Jaiku setup so I can send texts to ALOFU but it system won't send me a txt w/ my confirmation code?  Tech Support?

2.) I also am I huge fan of the show "Big Love" on HBO.  I really don't know how the writer's of that show do it...  so many characters, so many stories and back stories, yet it kicks ass.   As does Entourage and John from Cincinnati and pretty much anything on HBO.

3.)  The Bourne Ultimatum is probably the best movie of '07 so if you haven't seen it yet, do yourself a favor and go catch it in the theater.

4.)  Myself, Joe, and Colbeck leave for a month long European Romp in 1 month and 3 days so if anyone has any suggestions on places we shouldn't miss, let me know.  We are going to Oktoberfest in Munich for 2 days which will probably end up being more like 3 or 4 days...  It is my calling.

Oh yeah, this is Merlot.

Good to hear from the other coast.

1) For registering your mobile number with Jaiku, I think the trick is to include a plus sign at the beginning of your number. For example, +18185555555.

2) Still waiting for the next season of Big Love to come out on DVD (and the first season of John From Cincinnati, although a fellow Deadwood fan said he was a bit disappointed). Interestingly enough, I haven't seen any episodes of Entourage. My friend Abbie did see Adrian Grenier while I was around the corner waiting for her. She said he's even more gorgeous in person. And I did see the Devil Wears Prada a few weeks ago. So it's almost like I've seen an episode of Entourage by like two degrees of separation.

3) I'm a big fan of the first two Bourne movies. I'm glad someone is still making good spy films. I caught Mission Impossible 2 on TV the other day and found it laughable. I've agreed to wait until Becca sees Identity and Supremacy before we see Ultimatum. Just waiting on that Netflix queue to come through. They filmed some of the car chase scenes outside her Whole Foods, so she's got a vested interest in seeing it.

4) I'd recommend the Rome (esp the Vatican). I think Becca's European faves are Paris and Barcelona.

Nobody!

lol, speaks for me! Just kidding. Paul, you nailed it! I love, love and love PARIS and Barcelona! Mark, you have to go! Paris is so beautiful and so much praise that city deserves! I am so jealous you are going for a month! And nobody parties like Barcelona; the beaches, las Ramblas and the streets! It's all so amazing. I wish you the best on your journey and know that Europe is amazing! And P.S. What are you doing in Europe for a month? Ahh, tell me when and where and we shall all meet up over there.
